Speaking Topics
Business Leaders Are Best for Nonprofits:
Out of the more than 1.5 million nonprofits organizations in the U.S., half are in jeopardy of failing at any given time, more than 10% close within five years and nearly 20% shutter within ten years. It’s not because their mission isn’t important, or because good-hearted people aren’t committed to improving the lives of others. It’s because these organizations are missing vital expertise at the very top–business acumen. In her talk, Toni Pergolin will discuss why business leaders are critical in today’s environment and the difference it makes in whether a nonprofit will thrive and survive.
Not a Lemonade Stand–Nonprofit Organizations Are Real Businesses:
The belief that nonprofit organizations are soft and don’t need to generate a “profit” is misguided, and worse, dangerous. For nonprofits providing essential life supporting or life changing services, the absence of an operating margin threatens the existence of the organization and the people it serves. In this talk, Toni Pergolin will dive into how to lead with the mantra of “no margin, no mission” to empower nonprofit leaders to operate their organizations like any other business.
